Catch-up Blog: Recent Reading

Well, hi there!

I have been absent from these pages for a rather long time, and I wanted to bring both of my dedicated readers up-to-date on what I have been reading since last August. Rather than doing a separate post for each book, I am simply providing the table below which lists the book, my rating of the book and the beginning of my goodreads.com review of the book.

To see the rest of any of the review text, just click on the Title link of the book and you will be taken to the goodreads page for this book and my review.

(The formatting is a bit of a mess for this blog. I will fix that as I have time.)

You know, I think I'm with you on the review of "Pride and Prejudice." I read it for the first time recently, and although I enjoyed it, I wasn't enamored the way so many others are...possibly I'm just not used to her spare writing style, but...

we probably shouldn't publicize our true feelings. I fear the repercussions.

Your book list is so impressive. I don't read nearly as much as I should. I have a huge stack of books that I want to read but I just never get around to it. Maybe now I wont have to because I can just read your reviews instead :)

@Leah: Indeed. We must keep a very low profile else they might send the zombies after us!

Thanks for stopping by!

@Hannah: Welcome! I have a secret. Most of my books are actually listened to rather than read. Truth be told, I have very little time to read in real life. But I can listen to audio books when I am driving or cleaning the house or working on the race car or working in the yard or ... anything that doesn't take too much of my brain.

A very eclectic list.

Ringworld is a great series. You should continue.

P&P is actually not my favorite Austen, but I do love it. It's okay that you don't!

I didn't like Secret Life of Bees much at all. I think I'm burnt out on sweet southern memorish stories...

@Megan: Yeah, I try not to limit my reading too much, but you will see some patterns evolve over time. Patterns aside, I do challenge myself to try new things (in reading and life).

Based on your recommendation, I will add the 2nd Ringworld book to my "to read" list.

Thanks for stopping in!

Pride and Prejudice. Leah just bend over. I'm gonna kick your ass. Read it a second time for the full compliment. (I really don't appreciate lazy readers!) God, don't make me come over here.

;)

I have tried reading the no. 1 ladies etc series and I did not like it at all. Didn’t like the style of writing and it was boring. I love jane austen. I read her books in college when the library did not store modern fiction books. I started the outlander series recently too. But I started near the end. I want to go back and start from the beginning. Those things are LONG though and overdetailed but somehow I had to read them lol. I tried to read angels and demons on an audio book few yrs ago it was boring. Then I tried to read read it. It was boring. Then I tried to watch the movie. It was boring. Ive failed to ingest this book in any manner. I loved the glass castle though. Great book. Secret lives of bees was boring and sappy.

@Merri: Hi! Thanks for visiting. I know that I am in the minority when it comes to Jane Austen. Especially among women. Which I am not.

Outlander is a guilty pleasure for some ladies. :)
